Facebook Message: D.C.'s first Tweed Ride plus D&Q Social - Saying Thank You + Upcoming
Eric C Brewer sent a message to the members of D.C.'s first Tweed Ride plus D&Q Social
Subject: D.C. Tweed ride thank you!
Hello dandies and quaintrelles! For riders who have not re-visited the D&Q blog to view the post-ride message, your trusty organizers would like thank you for helping to make DC’s inaugural Tweed Ride a smashing success! Dandies & Quaintrelles give full acknowledgment to YOU – the fine and special individuals who volunteered your time to benefit a noble cause, Arts for the Aging (AFTA). We realize that each and every participant deserves recognition for helping to create such a *magical* experience. An impressive and outstanding display of refined behavior, style and grace was demonstrated through the duration of the day – from registration to the post-ride social. Congratulate yourselves for Dan Zak's feature article on the cover of the Style section in The Washington Post on Monday, November 16, as well as for all the other fantastic media coverage posted on the blog. D&Q hopes these events help to progress our culture and community in a positive (and highly fashionable!) direction, especially in support of worthy organizations such as AFTA. A few details we wish to share regarding the vintage-inspired portraits, raffle drawing, wardrobe award winners and other items: This weekend, a video documenting the raffle drawing was posted to the blog. Lolo Sarnoff, founder of Arts for the Aging, did the honors of drawing the numbers. If you are a winner, please claim your prize by contacting dandiesandquaintrelles@gmail.com before December 7 to make arrangements for pick up of one of the following prizes (with your red ticket in-hand):
The vintage-inspired portraits will be online and available for purchase from December 14 (look for information on the blog). The prints cost $20 each (again, with proceeds benefiting AFTA), please process through PayPal (dandiesandquaintrelles@gmail.com). Thanks to portrait photographer Steven Cummings for photographing and preparing the portraits! This week, please view the D&Q blog for photos of winners from the four “best dressed” categories (the decision-making process for this may have been the most difficult aspect of the event!).
- Seven stainless steel bar sets donated by sponsor Plymouth Gin
- Tweed cycling cap donated by Rapha
- Two $50 gift certificates to Marvin
While we expected a few dozen of DC's most dapper to turn out for the ride, the number of dandies and quaintrelles totaled to more than 420 riders! This surprise response presented a few logistical challenges on-site, but be it known, dear dandies, we will have an improved registration process for the spring Tweed Ride! The D&Q blog highlights the press articles, slideshows and interviews including, but not limited to, The Washington Post, The New York Times, NPR, ReadySetDC, Voice of America, DCist, BrightestYoungThings, etc. Thank you to our press supporters for such amazing attention! For those who have expressed interest in volunteering for future events and membership into the Dandies & Quaintrelles social club, we are truly grateful for your interest and will be in touch. In the meantime, please consider becoming a fan of Dandies and Quaintrelles and Arts for the Aging on facebook for updates about upcoming D&Q events. Finally, we hope you will share your experiences and photos with us from the first semi-annual Tweed Ride, est. 2009. Please enjoy a selection of the finest photography in the Flickr DC Tweed Ride Pool! With much appreciation,
- Most Dapper Dandy
- Most Quizzical Quaintrelle
- Most Steadfast Steed
- Most Astonishing Accessory
